THE CAMBRIDGE BOARD THE MONTHLY MEETING HELD The September meeting of the Cambridge Electric Power Board was held yesterday afternoon,;,when there were present, Messrs Tdervyn'' Wells (chairman), J. S. Fisher, C. H, Priestley, J. T. Entwisle, J. H. Brock, J. W. Garland. The manager. Mr F. M. Oliver,. and engineer, Mr Oaten, were also in attendance. Mr Wells congratulated Mr Brock his re-election unopposed to the board as. P\ies|ley '-svas appointed, to represent meeting of th*e" Employersi' % Association to be held in Auckland on Wednesday, September 26., ■'• '\yf\ylj ■:-■"" -"V ' Dnproving ,Shed Heaters A letter was. .received from the manager, N.Z. Dairy Company, forwarding a remit passed by the Dairy Suppliers' Committee stressing the necessity of improving the .dairy shed water heaters:; 'lf was .decided; to reply that the boai;d'was at present closely following the matter. A new heater was being tried out next week. Mr F. W. Finlay, of Pukerimu, wrote .claiming compensation fclr a J cow killed by electric current. The matter was left of , J. S. Fisher to deal with. ~ ' Arising from .this accident, Mv Wells stated that there were f number of faulty installations which had not been inspected. If ,the inspections were speeded up completed the onus was on the consumer to-have any faults remedied." The board would not then be liable ! for^compensation. Mr J. S. Fisher reported ' r on the proceedings Supply'Authorities Conference held in Wellington recently. Mr H. C. Oaten, who represented the board at the Engineers' -Conference, gave a "report "of proceedings. Conversion Loan The secretary reported that all formalities in connection with the conversion of loans-;had been completed. A vote of thanks -was - accorded Mr Oliver for his diligence in connection with the conversion. The chairman said he thought the board had carried but the work as cheaply as possible. The chairmatf 'board:--had been approached by the local branch of the St. John Ambulance for financial support. Members all agreed that the association worked in the community interest and it was decided to donate £lO to the funds. Accounts totalling £3352 13/3 were" passed for payment.
