GOLF

CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMENCE FIRST ROUND ON SATURDAY On. Saturday next the first round of the men's senior and junior championships will be played by the members of the Cambridge Golf Club. The draw is as follows: Seniors: W. Hewett v. F. Entwislo; A. 11. Nicoil' v. W. Garrard; «S. Dunbar V. H. Clayton; C. R. Haworth v. J, Butler; H. N. Freeman v. E. Morriec; Dr H. C. Tod v. L. R. Haworth; A. J. Law v. K: Ward; R- Ingham v. E. Nickle. Juniors: D. McCathie v. R. Ireland; C. Corfe v. I. Fairbrother; J. Giles v, D. Clemow; D. E. Creed v. T. Moss; K. Hanna v. M. Keenan; R. Morrison v. W. J. Smeeton; F. Kingsford v. G. Harbutt; W. Cubis v. P. Lewis. Members who are not included in the matches next Saturday will please arrange their own games. ' Notes on the Form Tho scores in tho qualifying rounds this year were very good.' Hewett, Freeman and Ingham all being under an average of 80 for the 18 holes, closely followed by Dunbar 160 and the painstaking secretary, C. Haworth, at 164. It looks as though the winner ■will be one of those mentioned, but there are some good match players in the field higher up in Garrard, K. Ward and L. Haworth. Tho event is very open and the ensuing matches w r ill create a lot of interest. In the junior championship a similar interesting contest is promised. McCathie played two very good rounds of 86 and 89, and topped the score. W. Cubis plai'ed two good rounds, as did J. Hanna. Creed and Corfe, R. Morrison, F. Kingsford and J. Giles all have a chaneo and much interest will be taken in the next few rounds of this contest, '■# , LADIES’ GOLF ( .
