AFTER FORTY YEARS' COURTSHIP.

ENGLISH COUPLE MARRIED. The most exciting event in living memory has happened at Curry Mallet, a thriving little village in West Somerset. It has taken the villagers days to realise that it is true. After being sweethearts for about 40 years Lilian Perry and Edward Vile have been married; and they have returned from their honeymoon to occupy a house which has been waiting for them, partly furnished, for 15 years ! Edward Vile was a handsome young man of 20 when he fell in love with Miss Perry, one of the prettiect girls in Curry Mallet. The villagers say that no less a personage than the Prince of Wales is the one who is responsible for the couple at last taking the plunge into matrimony. Mr Vile is a farmer on the Prince's duchy estate, and ; i year ago the Prince visited Curry Mallet, and Hatch Beauchamp, near by, to call on his tenants. .He saw the new house (anything less than 20 years old is new in Curry Mallet) built by Mr Vile, and asked what it was for. "He'll have to get a move on, or Miss Perry will be tired of waiting," said the Prince when he heard the story. It is believed that the hint took effect. Miss Perry and Mr Vile stole away from Curry Mallet recently and! were married in Weston-super-Mare. But Curry Mallet knew nothing about it until the couple reappeared and blushingly announced that they were man and wife. "After keeping us all in suspense for so long, they might have let us be at the wedding," said Miss Perry's brother to a "Daily Mail" reporter. J
