LAKEY AND BAYLY FARMS POINTS OF IMPORTANCE IN TRIAL The scene of the alleged double murder at Ruawaro may be more clearly pictured by our readers by the perusal of the above plan of the Lakey and Bayly farms, where in recent months the greatest activity in the criminal history of this Dominion was enacted by a large contingent of police piloted by some of the cleverest detectives and officials of the Department in the country.
Tho various points of interest that have been freely mentioned in the present Court proceedings are clarly shown. The Lakey and Bayly homesteads are prominently indicated, while in the foreground is the entrance to the Lakey farm from the main road. At Lakey's home on the left a large detachment of police was encamp'd living the weeks of the search, and pond where the body of Mrs Lakey v>found partly immersed is indicated, a little further to the left bc'ng Lair-"' cowshed. Bayly's cowshed is indicated sit the top end of the ridge road. Here the police made an intensive search and i rom a sheep dip at the side of the shed brought to light part of a cigarette lighter and other alleged articles of personal use, while particles of burnt substance were also found in the cowshed, together with a watch ring. R-yly's orchard is shown to the left of the homestead and here in the long grnss were found more burnt particles of clothing, etc. The open space in the top left-hand corner is the situation of nortion of Whangape Lake across which a lake farmer and his employee i -flared they saw thick smoke rising from Bayly's cowshed on the Sunday ••'"M.
