ART UNION DRAW
PIRST PRIZE TO ASHBURTON. MOST PEIZES GO SOUTH. The "Better Times" art union, the proceeds of which are to be divided among various welfare interests, was drawn in Wellington on Saturday. Prizes were won as follows: First Prize of £2000: W 58302, General. Wrack, Ashburton. The prize was the nineteenth draw from .the end. Second Prize of £500: W 05467, "Sandic's Missus," care of Mrs A. R. Hoenan, Matuku, Mossburn, Otago. Third Prize of £200: W 58821, Mrs.C. M. Lagan, 10 Hinau Street, Eiccarton. Prize of £100: W 43567, H. F. Diblcy, Wellington. Prize of £SO: V 60215, H. A. Merson, 11 Edwin Street, Mount Eden. Prizes of £25 each: AV73546, Mrs Connor, Box 13, Brixton, Taranaki; and V 55662, Mr W. G. Ball, Mount Wellington, Otahuhu, Auckland. Lucky Draper's Assistant. The winner of the first prize is Mr John Strachan, a married man, aged 30. Mr Strachan is a draper's assistant. A few small prizes came to Hamilton and one of £5 to V 63420, Horahora.

tion,, the Hon. E. Masters, in an ad 1 dress in Wellington, when referring to his investigation of education questions overseas. "There have been economies," he.added, "but no boy or girl has suffered."
