PERSONAL. The Misses Kathleen and Sheila Otv,. y, of Waimai, who have been staying at the National Hotel, returned Lome yesterday. Mr and Mrs E. Hart, of Dunedin, and formerly of Cambridge, are making an extended stay in the district and arc the guests of their relatives, Mr and Mrs D. M. Bourkc, of Pukeiimu. VISITORS TO CAMBRIDGE. At the National: Mr and Mrs D. Mawson, New Plymouth; Mr H. Ward, Hastings; Miss Daphne Knight, Auckland; Mr Temple White, Wellington; Mr and Mrs N. Wilson, Whangarei, and Colonel Mat son, Kawhia. At the Midland: Miss E. Gibson, TJrenui; Miss Ivy Alderton, Miss H. Manning, Mr and Mrs Beach, all of Auckland; Miss Robson, Hamilton; Mrs Cargo, New Plymouth*; Miss Chapman, Blenheim. SUPPER PARTY. After the play, "His House in Order," which was staged in the Town Hall on Thursday night, Mrs W. Munroe entertained the cast and their friends to supper at her home in Queen Street, where dancing and music were greatly enjoyed. During the evening Mr S. L. Vale, on. behalf of the cast, made a small presentation to Mrs G. G. L. Taylor, in appreciation of all the work she had put into the production of the play. Among those present were: —Mrs W. Mmrroe, Mrs G. G. L. Taylor, Mrs F. If. Wooldridge, Mrs H. L. Possenniskie, Mrs S. L. Vale, Mrs R. D. Miller, the Misses Dunne, M. McCathie, Betty Lee and S. McCarroll; Messrs W. Munroe, G. G. L. Taylor, N. Souter, S. L. Vale, *J'. Sawcrs, J. Mcßrearty, H .L. Possenniskie, E. R. Wooldridge, A. B. Hodgson, E. James, R. D. Miller and Master Dawson Munroe. TAREWELL PARTY. On Saturday last, a most enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Mr J. G. Kuhtz, Eencourt, as Mr Kuhtz and family are shortly moving to Ohaupo, about 50 friends and neighbours gathered to bid them good-bye. The evening was spent in games and old-time dancing. Music was supplied by Mrs M. Kerr and Mr S. Smillie, and a sumptuous supper Avas served by the ladies. A pleasant evening was brought to a close with the singing of "They arc Tolly Good Fellows," and "Auld Lang gyne." The many friends of Mr and Mrs Kuhtz wish them every success in their new venture. ' WOMEN PREACHERS. The Archbishop of Canterbury has brought his own diocese into line with others ,by approving regulations for the special recognition of women's work. These new conditions will permit women, not under the age of 25 and possessing special qualifications, to receive the Archbishop's license to speak in churches at other times than the regular services. Dr Lang explains in his Diocesan Gazette that the object of the regulations "'is to regularise the work, to give authority and recognition to those engaged in it, and to bring its methods into line with other dioceses which have been foremost in giving it a rightful place in church order." Where i\ woman, attains the standard for the Archbishop's license a,guarantee will be offered for an adcqua|b stipend for her services.

A woman worker, with the Arch"bi.shop's license to preach, will not be permitted to administer Holy Communion nor conduct any of those services "belonging particularly to the clergy. There are now 48 deconesscs in the Church of England.
