SUMMER BOWLING
OPENING OF THE GREENS. LARGE ATTENDANCE. Although not officially, the Cambridge Bowling Club opened its greens for the summer season's play on Saturday afternoon last. During the course of the afternoon the executive and members were delighted to have a visit from the veteran member, Mr Geo. E. Clark. Accompanied by Mr and Mrs A. W. Gane, Mr Clark was given a rousing reception as he walked down to the pavilion. Many members approached the "Father" of the club and hoped his health would spare him to visit the greens on many occasions this season. Among the visitors present were' Messrs J. Thomson, John Thomson, W. Darlington and A. Anderson, of the Claudelands Club. Other visitors included Mr J. E. McNaughton, of Remuera. A new member and a new arrival to the district was present in Mr T>H. Hale, late of Grey Lynn, who has joined the bakery staff of Gardiner's bakery. Several Leamington players were on the green, which was in surprisingly good order for tlie beginning of the season. Both No. 1 and No. 2 greens have a splendid surface, thanks to the policy of the green superintendent, Mr E. C. Wallis, and to the excellent service of Mr F. Hall.
