PERSONAL. Mrs V. Cornaga, who has been impending a holiday in, Auckland, returned home on Thursday. * * * Miss Phyllis Simmons, of I’atea, who "has been visiting Mrs V. H. Nolan, of ‘ Eoto-o-rangi,- returns home during the •week-end. , * * * Guests at the Masonic Hotel recently were: Mr and Mrs W. Cooper, Napiei; Mr J. Moyes, Mr R. Pawson, Mr .1. Foley and Mr E. Dow, all of Auckland. * * * Miss F. Wilson, E.K.C., matron-in-cliief, New Zealand Army Nursing Service of Christchurch, has retired from that position, and Miss Ida Willis, E.E.C., Wellington, has been appointed to the office. * ‘HIS HOUSE IN ORDER.” WHAT WAS WORN. Frocks admirably in keeping with the parts portrayed were selected by the feminine members of the cast of *‘ His House in Order,” which was produced at the Town Hall on Thursday night. Mrs Posscnniskio- as Nina, the misunderstood second-wife, made her first •appearance in a lemon crepe de chine frock' with touches of green, and ..a •green linen hat. In the second act she wore a charming black lace and georgette evening gown. In Mrs Posscn.r.iskie’s third appearance she was seen in a very dashing scarlet figured crinkle crepe frock, which played an important part in the plot, and in the last -act her frock was black afgalaine, trimmed with black and white diagonal afgalaine and big black and white -sleeves.
Miss Dunne (Lady Ridgcley) was seen first of all in a black georgette a,nd lace frock. Later slie wore a smart black georgette ensemble. Miss Margaret McCathie (Geraldine) appeared in the first act in a nattici bine figured crepe do chine frock- In flic second act she wore a most attiactive grey ribbed velvet gown and in tier last appearance she was seen in a very smart black tailored suit. }lrs Wooldridge (Mile. Thome) wore vl petite frock of mauve checked gingluim, with large white organdie sleeves .{did. collar, in the first act. In the sec--end act she wore a sweet green floral trfinon frock. Her third appearance ■was made in a black fiat crepe free it and tailored coat. In the last act Mrs Wooldridge wore- a very attractive frock of black flat crepe trimmed with large creme sleeves, and a charming blade hat worn with the fashionable eyc-vcil. Miss Betty Lee as the secretary Miss Harding, appeared in the first, act in a smart tailored black crinkle cicpo frock trimmed with white. She was seen later in a parma violet crushed -velvet evening gow r n. , .CROQUET FIVE HUNDRED. On Thursday another very pleasant Ifive hundred afternoon was held at the residence of Mrs A. Pearce, in connection with the Domain Croquet Club. Mrs Pearce was wearing a figured silk Truck. The drawing-room was gay with lovely spring flowers, ranunculi, stocks and anemones. Mr Martin won .the first prize and Mrs Beer the consolation, the prizes being given by Mrs

Rutter. The opportunity was taken to say good-bye to one of the members of the club, Mrs Bradstrect, who is leaving the district, much regret being expressed at her impending departure. Those present were: Mrs O. Ganc (president), Mrs Pearce, Snr., Mrs Martin, Mrs Glanville, Mrs Beer, Mrs Tucker, Mrs W. Moore, Mrs Bradstrect, Mrs Rutter, Mrs McLarnon, Ms Mnnn, Mrs H. Williams, Mrs Brindle, Mrs E. Ferguson, Mrs White, Mrs W. Wallace, Mrs Clayton, Mrs W. Wilkinson, and Miss Riley, Miss Boyce, Miss McDedtt p.nd Miss McGandlish.'
LEAMINGTON BENEFIT DANCE. There was a very good attendance at the benefit dance held by the Learnington Football Club in the Leamington Hall on Wednesday evening last, in aid of players injured during the past season. The function was a most enjoyable one. Monte Carlo dances were won by Mr F. Smith and partner, and Miss P. Bright and partner. The sucking pig weight-guessing competition was won by Mr M. Williams, who guessed 23-llbs. The dance was well organised. Clayton’s orchestra provided good dance music, and the duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr J. Johnston. The Ladies ’ Committee prepared * a sumptuous supper, the ladies on the committee being: Mesdamcs Kingdon, navy boauto; Dray, floral crepe do chine; Johnston, black crepe de chine; Garland, black crepe de chine; C. Kelly, red crepe do chine; Miss N. Hall, blue satin.
