METHODIST CHURCH

ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL. PROGRESS FOR THE YEAR. The anniversary social of St. Paul’s Methodist Church on. , Tuesday night was attended by a large and enthusiastic audience. The Rev. James Richards presided. The gathering opened with praise, and a prayer was offered by Mr E. J. Vinall. The annual report was read and commented on by the Trust secretary and treasurer, Mr E. B. Ivemsley. It revealed a healthy and progressive activity. Messages of good cheer to Mr Geo. Clark and Mr S. Cowling, veteran members of the church, who were unable to be present, were heartily accorded by the audience. A roll call of the various branches of the Trust was called by the chairman and members of each organisation combined in a sung response.

The Rev. A. C. McLean, of the Presbyterian Church, brought a very acceptable message of good cheer, ami words, of appreciation for faithful services rendered to the church during the past year were spoken by Mr Martin Butler and Mr Wesley Hooker. Solos were sung by Miss Z. Easter, Mrs Nodder and Mr W. La no; also a duet by Miss N. and Mr R. Easter. Miss Jenkins and Mr E. B. Kemsley contributed recitations. A vote of thanks, and an enjoyable supper served bv the ladies, brought a very happy evening to a close.
