THE RUGBY BALL

POPULAR SOCIAL EVENT. LARGE AND REPRESENTATIVE ATTENDANCE. Held in the Town Hall on Thursday evening last the Cambridge Rugby Union’s annual ball proved a most popular and successful event, there being a large and repesentative attendance. There was a. large number present from Matangi and Tauwhare, while Hamilton and all the neighbouring districts gave their support. The fixture again this year was very well organised, and there was not a dull moment throughout. In t-lie dance hall Clayton’s orchestra of six instruments, proVided a splendid programme of music, and extras wore kindly played by Mr Fred Morris. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs J. Wilkinson, T. F. Kerr and N. Garland. The Rugby Executive was again fortunate this year in having a representative ladies’ committee, the convener being the president’s wife, Mrs 11. Cubis. Yocman work was done by the ladies, and the result was a sumptuous supper that was done full justice to. A feature of the supper-room was the table decorations. Seldom have the Town Hall supper-rooms looked, so delightful. There was a wealth of spring flowers, delightfully arranged by Mrs A. R. Batchelor and Mrs E. R-. Lee. The executive of the Rugby Union also lent their aid in the matter of decorations there being a canopy of blue and white streamers over the supper tables, while the stage was also attractively arranged, the array ol trophies having a central position. The dance programme of modern and old-time dances went with a swing until the small hours of the morning. The Ladies’ Committee.
