A MESSAGE FROM THE PIONEERS

A particularly fine and appropriate tribute was paid to the original pioneers of the Waikato by Mr F. Lye, M.P., in the course of a speech at the re-union yesterday, when he said that after all had been said and done the pioneers had left the pathway smoother for other feet to tread. Mr Lye concluded his speech with the following tribute: “If you believe in friend and nextdoor neighbour, And heed examples pioneers have made; If you expect the sun to shine tomorrow; If you arc sure, that somewhere skies arc blue; Wake up and pack away the futile sorrow, For better days are largely ,up to vou. ’ ’
