DESTROYING RABBITS

METHODS OF CENTRAL WAIKATO BOARD. TRAPPING NOT ALLOWED Through a misunderstanding an erroneous impression was convoyed by an article in Tuesday’s issue, “War on Rabbits,” which stated that trappingformed part of the Waikato Central Rabbit Board’s campaign. It is desired to call, attention to the public notice on another page absolutely prohibiting shooting and trapping in the board’s area. “The point to be made clear,” said the secretary, Mr P. T. Glanville, yesterday, “is that no trapping or shooting is allowed under any circumstances. Anyone so doing will be immediately prosecuted. The reference to amalgamation,” he continued, “does not apply to the Waikato Central Rabbit Board, which does not favour any such scheme, being too intent on carrying out the elimination of the rabbit pest successfully over its own area of 60,000 acres. ’ ’
