RESULTS DISPLAYED
BIG CROWD WATCHES INDEPENDENT’S BOARD. SERVICE APPRECIATED. “The service you have provided tonight is equal to that of the cities and larger towns,” was tho compliment paid by several people last night in referring to tho Waikato Independent’s results board. Tho board was a large one covering almost the entire frontage oi the building, and was illuminated by powerful lights, in addition to the ordinary street lights. The crowd began to assemble shortly after 7 p.m. and by 8.30 the whole street was filled with a large concourse 'of district residents. It was a fine night and the crowd was most orderly and good humoured, though there was hardly the excitement of tho previous election when Reform was going down before United. Keen interest was displayed in the results for the Waikato seat. The majority of those present waited until about 11.15 by which timo tho majority of the Dominion results were to hand. In connection with the display of the results the Independent wishes to thank Messrs Speight, Pearce, Nicoll, Davys, Ltd., Cambridge Power Board, tho Post Office staff and the Returning Officer (Mr F. T. Ray); also to the Municipal Band for their co-operation in playing an appropriate programme which greatly enlivened the proceedings. Thanks are also duo to Mr T. S. Cray for placing the balcony of bis hotel at. the disposal of the baud.
