PROFICIENCY TESTS

THE ANNUAL EXAMINATION. RESULTS NOT AVAILABLE. The annual proficiency examination for children in Standards 6 and attending Cambridge and district schools was held at the Cambridge Primary School yesterday and was conducted by Inspectors Law and Moreland. The results are not yet available for publication. From the Cambridge school 57 children sat and 39 candidates from district schools were also examined. *’ The test this year was considerably harder than in former years, this the Inspectors themselves admitted, said Mr J. Connor, Std. 6 teacher at the local school, when approached this morning. Of course the idea was to floor as many pupils as possible. The percentage of passes this year would range between 50 and 60, Mr Connor had been informed. As soon as the schedules come to hand from headquarters they will be published in the Independent.
