LIVE STOCK MARKET

BEEF AND FAT SHEEP DOWN. LOW FIGUEES'FOi:. PEE.SEXT , PEEIOD. A further decline in both fat sheep and beef has been registered at this week's stock sales in the Waikato, especially at Frankton. It is a good many years since beef has been selling at such a low figure for this time of the - year. There does not appear to be much prospect of an improvement until we can'dispose of the beef and mutton exported, and with the low rates rulingen the Home markets this seems highly improbable at the moment. Naturally the decline in beef has had a very detrimental effect on the store market. Large yardings, and in many cases of good quality cattle, are the order of the day, but prices are at such a low ebb that vendors must be losing money. Store sheep have also shown a decided falling off, and at Frankton sale this week quite a good line of store 4-tooth wethers sold at prices which small 2-tooths were realising a couple o; weeks ago. The dairy section is practically finished for this season, but a large number of pigs is now being marketed, and at Frankton this week there was a decided improvement on last week's prices. Frankton Quotations. The New Zealand Loan ami Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report on their store stock sale, held at the Frankton yards as follows: For only an average yarding, comr.ctition was dull, and values show a decline on late rates. Good quality dairy cattle met with a steady demand but for the majority, a poor sale was effected. Xo sheep came forward. We quote: 18-months steers £1 10/- to £1 .1-!/-; mixed coloured store cows £.l. 4/1,0 £.l 10/-; boners 1(5/" to £1 ?>/-; yearling heifers £1 (5/- to £2 5/-J dairy cows £4 5/- to £0 10/-; others £3 to £4. DAIRY PRODUCE. MARKETS VERY SLOW. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd, Hamilton, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date of 13th instant (last week's quotations in parentheses):—Butter: 112/- per cwt (114/- to 116/). Xo business. Market weak.
