WAIKATO CLUB’S OPENING DAY. EAGLET WINS CUP. The Waikato Racing Club’s SpringMeeting opened at the Te Rapa course on Saturday in fine weather. The thunderstorm which was heavy in other parts of the district passed by the course with only a light fall, the track not being affected. It was fast. The totalisator handled £13,620 10/-, compared with £23,990 on the first day last year, a decrease of £10,369 10/-. There was a large attendance including a considerable representation of the Cambridge district. Results wore as follows: — Trial Stakes, 6 furs.—l—Lady Musk (7.94) 1; 3 —Sparkling Morn (7.5) 2; 2 Lady Lulu (7.12) 3. Three-quarters and one length. Time 1.14 1-5. The totalisator handled £12,510, compared with £19,433 10/- on the second day last year, a decrease of £6917 10/-, making a total for the meeting of £26,136 10/-, against £43,423 10/-, a decrease of £17,287.
