HAYFIELD ACCIDENT
LEAMINGTON EESIDENT , ; ! INJUBED. - : v A painful accident befel Mr A. E. Peppercorn, of Leamington, in the hayfield : yesterday just before mid-day, when ho fell from a stack, being constructed on Mr J. Boyd's farm, at Pukekura, and suffered a badly bruised right arm and side. ' It appears that Mr Peppercorn, with Mr Boyd, was on top of the stack and wore in the act of pulling a grab full of hay to the top, when the rope broke and Mr Peppercorn fell about 16/'feet to the ground. , ; ., "Willing hands rushed to the scone and seeing that Mr Peppercorn was unconscious it was feared that he had suffered a serious injury. After a period the injured man regained consciousness and was.conveyed to his home where he was attended by Dr Waddle. An examination fortunately disclosed that Mr Peppercorn's injuries were T) worse than a badly bruised right arm; also bruised ribs. Yesterday Mr Peppercorn was confined' to his bed, but we are glad to say that he is getting along nicely to-day. In view of the sudden nature of the accident and the considerable fall, Mr Peppercorn had a fortunate escape fronv being more seriously injured.
