NEW DOMINION CHAMPIONS. STEDMAN WINS SINGLES. . i _ ! ' At the N.Z. Lawn Tennis Championship fixture which concluded at Wilding Park, Christchurch, on Thursday A. C. Stedman (Auckland) defeated H. A. Barnett (Canterbury) in the final of the men ’s singles, 7 —5, 6 —l, 6—3. Stedman ’& forehand drives into the corners gave Barnett little chance. Stedman, who is 22 years of age, and Gft in height, is also the holder of . the Auckland doubles championship with N. G. Sturt, and holder of the N.Z. University singles title. OTHER, RESULTS. Ladies’ Singles. Final.—-Mrs H. M. Dykes (Auckland) defeated Miss Marjorie Macfarlane (Auckland), 6 —-1, 9—7. ; Men’s Doubles. Final.—l. E. Seay and C. Angas (Canterbury.) defeated D, G.; and A. L. France (Wellington), 6—3, 6-r3, 6—3. Mixed Doubles. Final. —Miss Andrew and Seay (Canterbury) beat Mrs Thomson and Wilson (Wellington), 7 —5, 3 —6 j 7 —5. Girls’ Singles. Final.—Miss N. Bishop (Christchurch) beat Miss C. Reese . (Christchurch), 6 —2, 6 —5. v Junior Mixed Doubles. Final —Miss M. Howe and N. Davys (Wellington) beat Miss T. Poole and E. Kean 6 —l, 6 —5. — — / LEAMINGTON V. KARAPIRO. On Saturday last members of the Leamington Tennis Club travelled to Karapiro, where they met and defeated the local club by 11 sets (93 games) to 10 sets (92 games). Some of the games were evenly contested and altogether a very enjoyable time was spent.
