THE LOCAL CLUB. NEW SECRETARY APPOINTED. A meeting of the Bowling Club executive was held in .the pavilion last evening, the president, Mr - Edgar Janies, presiding, and there were also present Messrs W. Sands, S. Lewis, E. J. Easter, T. Dix, V. G. Boulton, T. F. Richards and the secretary, Mr F. R. Watters. Secretary Resigns. Owing to his appointment as assistant clerk to tho Napier Borough Council, Mr F. R. Watters tendered his resignation as secretary. The president referred Avith regret to Mr Watters’ departure from Cambridge, but, on behalf of the members, congratulated him on his ucav appointment, Mr Watters suitably returning thanks. , With lavo members of the club offering their services as secretary, the matter Avas considered at length by the committee, Mr S. R. James finally bcing appointed. It Avas pointed out that Mr James’ long association AA'ith the game of bowls and his experience of clubs and centres Avould be invaluable to the club Avith him in the office of secretary. High appreciation of the other member’s active interest in the club Avas also expressed. Boxing Day Tourney. There having been a little misapprehension among some of the members concerning the form of entry of the Boxing Day one-day tournament, it AA’as decided that it be on tho same lines as previous years, i.c., teams to be arranged by the match committee from names placed on the board. Wright’s Trophy.' The president presented suggested rules for the Wright’s trophy competition, and after discussion it Avas decided that the matter of adoption be deferred to the next annual meeting. A meeting of all interested to consider tho formation of a Bowling Club at Leamington, will be held in' the Leamington Domain pavilion on Thursday next, as advertised. Already proA'ision for bowling has been made by the generosity of district residents and tho Domain Board in the laying down of a full-size green. The* grass has come aAvay well ,and there is the prospect that tho green may be ready for play before the "end of the current season. It is to be hoped there will be a good attendance of interested residents on Thursday, and that the efforts already made will culminate in the formation of a strong club. The promoters AA'clcome anyone interested to the meeting.
