The Waikato Independent offers two prizes—£l 1/- (first prize) and 10/6 (second prize)—for the best Original Short Story or Essay by Children, and similar prizes for short stories by Adults. ■ r y . CONDITIONS. Competitions are restricted t'o bona fide residents of the Cambridge district.. The children’s competition is restricted to those attending any school in the Cambridge district. Any subject may be taken. Writing must be in ink or typewritten, on one side of paper only. Children’s efforts must be certified to by a teacher of the school that same is the bona fide work of the competitors. Stories or essays are limited to: Children 1000 words, Adults 1500 words. Names and addresses of those competing to be attached.
