GIRL GUIDE RALLY
CONTESTS AT MORRINSVILLE. CAMBRIDGE IN THIRD'PLA<?E/ About 250 Girl Guides and Brownies from nine South Auckland troops assembled on the Morrinsville Recreation Ground: on Saturday in a series of \jiompetitions fOr the Herbert Smith Cup, which is donated annually to the troop gaining most points at the South Auckland Guide Tally.' , In the march' past Mrs T. Toombs, Commissioner for South Auckland, took the salute. The marching, of the troops,v with their company standards flying, evoked applause. < The Morrinsville Municipal Band played selections and the music for the marching. The Te Kuiti Company, under Mis 3 F. Graham, won the cup with, 112 points, with Morrinsville, under Miss M. Allen, 108$ points, second. Other scores were as follows:—Cambridge, 102; Ngaruawahia, 99; Hamilton, 98$; Claudelands, 94J; Te ; Awamutu, 93; Frankton, 95; Pukemiro (who did not contest two events), 595. Points were given for appearance, marching, country dancing, signalling, physical drill and camp-making. The Guides were entertained by the Morrinsville Guide Committee.
