The Otahuhu Trotting Club's meetino- was commenced on Saturday at Alexandra Park, Auckland. The totalisator investments during the day amounted to £39,703. Compared with the sum handled on the corresponding day last year, £40,380 10/-, this represents a decrease of £677 10/-. The Otahuhu Cup went to Machine Gun. the Tamaherc horse, owned and driven by E. A. CUP TO KING WILLONYX

The Dargaville Racing Club's meeting was opened on Saturday in fine weather. An unfortunate accident occurred in the Awakino Handicap. Brampton, a hot favourite, won easily but fell as he crossed the line. His rider, Parsons, was severely injured by passing horses and was taken to hospital. However, the stewards ordered the dividend to be paid out. The totalisator handled £8275 against. £8399 id/-, when the races were held at Dargaville on a Thursday in 1928.
