'•' ' The jquartcrly meeting of officers in with the Cambridge Methodist circuit was held at St. Paul’s Church on Tuesday evening last, when Rev. J. W. Griffin presided, and there were also present: Rev. JY W. Parker, Mesdames Palmer, Parker and Penn, Miss Arnold, Messrs Geo. Gutry, E. Glover, F. Bycroft, E. J. Vinall, *A. J. Arnold, J. Bridgman, Geo. E. Clark, G. E. Carter, R. Bvcroft, S. Cowling, M. (J. Butler, R. J. Melville, C. F. Lange, Frank Penn, E. J. Easfbr, E. B. Kernsley and W. R. Beer. Finance. • The balance sheet showed a small deficit on the quarter. After discussion, it was resolved to appeal to all members, urging them to promise regular quarterly subscriptions towards the church funds, such to be Worked in conjunction with the envelope system. A committee was appointed, comprising the superintendent minister, Messrs Geo. Carter, E. J. Easter, Frank Penn, M. J. Butler and F. Bycroft to take the matter in hand. Special Collections. It was resolved that, during the current 'quarter the following special colbe allowed, viz.: St. Paul’s Sunanniversary; Feneourt Trust, anniversary; Leamington Trust; orphanages, returing collection on (Christmas Sunday. V Young People’s Work. Reports of the various Sunday Schools showed the work was proceeding fairly satisfactorily in Cambridge, Leamington and Feneourt. The Bible Classes in Cambridge were reported to be doing excellent work, with good membership in each department, the members showing keen interest in their work. It was reported that Mrs Gutry had resigned from the position of leader of the senior girls’ Bible Clas3, a position 9he had held for some years. Highly eulogistic reference was made to the splendid work done by Mrs Gutry, and it was resolved to write hey expressing appreciation of her devoted and efficient service. District Synod. In connection with the South Auckland District Synod, which commences its sessions at Cambridge on the 19th inst., Messrs Easter, Penn .and Arnold appointed a committee, with to act, to attend to details in with hospitality for repreHBLives and arrangements for the Synod- It was stated that some forty representatives would attend Synod, which would last from 19th to the 22nd inst. Appreciation of Services. / Several of those preseAt spoke of the very excellent services rendered by Rev J. W. Griffin, who had been sent to Cambridge as locum tenens to the Rev. J. W. Parker, during the latter’s illness, and a resolution was passed expressing appreciation of his good work. Pleasure was also expressed that Rev. Griffin would be able to remain in Cambridge until New Year, when it is expected Rev. Parker will be able to resume his duties. Synod Reps. Messrs Geo. Carter and Frank Penn Were appointed to represent the circuit at the forthcoming Synod, with Messrs E.*J. Easter and R. J. Melville as substitutes.
