KINGSFORD SMITH
RETURNING TO 'AUSTRALIA SHORT VISIT TO AUCKLAND. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith, the noted aeronaut, is a passenger by the Aurangi, which arrived at Auckland on Sunday, and continues her journey to Sydney to-day. Atlantic Hop. Interviewed at Auckland, Kingsford Smith said the idea of an Atlantic hop to complete the world circuit by the Southern Cross, appealed to him and he hoped to make this trip next year, together with members of the old party, Ulm, Litchfield and MeWilliams. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and Flight- lieutenant Ulm, have organised Australian National Airways, a scheme in which they have invested £50,000 in four three-engined machines. It was hoped to start the service within a few weeks. These machines would accomodate from ten to fourteen passengers. A daily service would bo run between Sydney and Brisbane, and early next year a night run would be started in Melbourne.
