VISIT OF BISHOP

T CONFIRMATION SERVICES. I INSPIRING ADDRESSES. t '' 'On] Sunday last tho Eight Eov. BisI vihop Chcrrington visited Cambridge and .•'conducted special confirmation services at St. Andrew's Church, there being large attendances at all services, and .especially in the evening, when the 1 church was crowded. Inspiring addresses were delivered by His "Lordship at the confirmation services, while at the evening service the Bishop made a fine 'appeal for greater consideration to i church attendance. | | Thirteen candidates were confirmed ;, at the service in the early afternoon, I while at a further service at 5 p.m. 1 three adults took the confirmation vows. At these services the Bishop .gave impressive and very helpful addresses, and : spoke most earnestly of the value of I the Sacrament of Holy Communion and I ,©f the completion of the Sacrament of Baptism. He appealed for a more general appreciation of Confirmation in the . provision that it made for admittance I to the entire privileges of the Church. H In the course of an impressive and inspiring address at tho evening service "the Bishop dealt with the need, especially these days, for a greater consideration to church attendance. He urged upon the people to realise more fully thoV corporate nature of Christianity. ,T%? Bishop stressed the value of community worship, especially in the diV rection of creating a better understandV ing between men and women, and a I more sympathetic realisation of the f claims of the spirit of brotherhood. The j greatest good could not be achieved by I individual worship, but men and workmen could help one another by meeting I together for common worship. If this I was appreciated to a greater extent he | felt confident that church attendances | would immediately improve. As a whole the Bishop's address was a very human and helpful one, and on ,all sides appreciation was expressed.
