CAMBRIDGE CLUB. ARRANGEMENTS EOR EXHIBITION MATCHES. A meeting of the committee of the Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club was held at Mrs. Clayton *s residence on Tuesday, evening ,whoit there were present: Mr. Frank Penn (president). Mrs. Clayton, Misses Garland and Armstrong, Messrs. F. Swayne. I. James, ,J. Cox. R. Morrison, and F. Entwisle (secretary). Exhibition Matches. The Secretary reported that Messrs. Bartleet, Sturt, Sims and Hr. Laurenson had a.ll accepted invitations to, visit Cambridge on February 9th and participate in exhibition matches.

It was resolved that a charge of one shilling bo made to witness the play, with an extra shilling for stands, subiect to the approval of the Domain Board.

It. was reported that the RUgby Union had very kindly granted permission’ to remove and use their grandstand for the exhibition. After discussion, it was decided to nrovide afternoon tea at the courts on February 9th, a charge of 6d .to be made for same. Mrs. Clayton and Miss Garland were deputed to attend to the arrangements for same. Various matters of detail in connection with the tennis display were relegated to sub-committees. Match with Te Aroha.

The Secretary stated that arrangements had been made for Te Aroha to send a team of eight men and eight ladies to Cambridge on Anniversary Day.

The meeting decided to commence say at about 10 a.m., and arrangements for entertaining the team were dealt with. v Match with Te Awamutu. Mr. I. Janies stated that Te Awamutu Club wished to play a match with Cambridge at Cambridge on Saturday next. It was resolved to accept the invitation, and Messrs. F. Swayne and B. Morrison selected the following team to represent the local club in this match: —Ladies: Misses Thompson, Garland, Clemow, Betty Crowther, Mrs. Clayton, Miss Jean Feisst. Men: Morrison, J. Cox, Hollis, C. Haworth, Clayton, L. Haworth. Finance. The financial position was discussed. It was stated that the bank overdraft was slightly larger than expected, but it was hoped to reduce it considerably in the near future. Club Championships. It was resolved to hold competitions for men’s and ladies’ singles championships, the arrangements for same being left to Messrs. Entwisle and Morrison.
