The Waikato Independent offers two prizes ,of £lls (first prize) and 10s 6d (second prize) for best Original Short Story or Essay by Children ,and similar prizes for Short Stories by Adults. CONDITIONS. Competitions are restricted to bona fide residents of the Cambridge district. Children's Competition is restricted to those attending any school in the Cambridge district. Any subject may be taken. Writing must be in ink oV typewritten, on one side of the paper only. Children's Essays must be certified to by a teacher of the school that same are the bona, fide work of the competitors. ' _ 1 Stories or Essays to be limited to: Children, 1000 words; adults, 1500 words. Names and addresses of those competing to be attached. Children competing should give their age.
