A NARROW ESCAPE
CAB CAPSIZES. -/ i OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY. On Thursday afternoon Mr and Mrs S. Holmes, of Hautapu, and five of their children had a most fortunate escape from being injured when the car in which they were driving struck a rut on a grass road and turned a complete somersault. The vehicle turned right over and. cam© to upside down. Mr Holmes and the children in the back of the car, were able to crawl out through the side curtains, while Mr Holmes and her young baby were also assisted from the upturned car uninjured. - Mr and Mrs Holmes were returning home from Cambridge about 3.30 p.m. r and to get to their homestead had to negotiate a grassy back road. The car, a mnv Buick, struck a deep rut that had been covered over with high grass. The vehicle skidded across the road and struck a ploughed furrow, which had been recently turned up. This caused the car to capsize. Fortunately Mr Holmes was driving slowly at the or a very serious accident might have, A resulted. ‘
The hood-and top-gear of the car were badly crushed, also the wind-screen and both front mudguards. Mr Holmes only purchased the car about a fortnight ago.
