RAILWAY MANAGEMENT. RUMOURED CHANGE. WELLINGTON, April 4. Persistent rumours have ijeen in 'ciry dilation lately that, the Government anticipates making tl change in regard to the management of the railways. It has been hinted, that it is its intention to do away with the board of management and revert to the old system' of control by a general manager. The matter was mentioned to the Premier. Mr Coates said lie did not wish to discuss the matter at all, as he took no notice of rumours. “Bo far as lam concerned, ” r he said,/ “the board has done, and i£ doing excellent work, and that does not make 4t -appear as if a change will take place.”
