LATEST FASHIONS

I'EOM THE CONTINENT. .Most of the Paris designers are concent fating on cldthes that will claim "a place in the sun.” New silk-wool fabrics, miraculously light, and line, go to the making of attractive.. ‘‘ little ’’ frocks. Jumper-suits are still’*, in the forefront of fashion, a.nd grey and a very pale beige are the most favoured hues. Ctay belts and cardigans “on fantaisie” lend them a. vivid touch of colour. Nice, I am told, is full of such ensembles; scarlet and grey; beige and bright, green; with charming little hats en 'suite, carried out in.'lino felt /and trimmed with a leather flower to match the belt of the gown. f . • THE B.ELT VOGUE. There is no- end to the belt vogue, which is by no. means .limited to daytime wear. Evening .gowns are trimmed with ribbon sash-bol.rs. in a contrasting colour; smart afternoon gowns are, similarly adorned. - Sports suits proper are girdled with plaited- leather belts, multi-coloured, and ’•fastening with:a gait or silver buckle. The pleated skirt never looks more- fascinating than when moulded at the: hips with a very wide, beautifully shaped band of fl‘ne suede or leather. CHIFFON E-. 1 JOCKS. floral petals. ■ and silver thread. Or lace may go to their .making, in-which case they tire bordered with narrow ribbon •eirev' One or the other—flounces or tlbop fringe iii three or j. four tiers— - seems to be the almost unanimous choice in toilettes tie soiree.

FLOWERS FOR EVENING WEAR

Equally universal is the fashion of wearing flowers in the evening, two very large blooms now replacing the erstwhile solitary carnation or rose, A more exotic taste prevails, including orchids made of rhinestones, a'nd fan-

tastically huge, jewelled lilies. The.top of the left shoulder is the correct.place to wear the floral decoration, ; thopgli aspirants after novelty are fixing it on the back of the .shoulder, Quite gone, is the old notion of tucking ,it demurely into the waist, COLOUR IN MILLINERY.

There is a strong feeling for colour .in. the now millinery. Some of the new hats, in fact, look like jig-saw puzzles, so elaborate are the carefully interlitted decorative effects. '

EMBfiOIDERED BOW-BOWS.

. Among the last-word .‘‘novelties” may be noted tlie, resurrection of an old. fashion. ' Buttoned gloves are with us', again. " With a difference, however. The buttons are there by way of ornament only.. They arc fashioned of cut steel, and adorn the gauntlets of leather gloves.

Another new note is the fashion of embroidering' a portrait of milady’s pet dog on the pocket of her juniper. This replaces the initial craze. The embroidered bow-wow is even “finished off'/ with a miniature collar in beads.
