A Press Association message from Masterton states that the condition of Hpn. D. H. Guthrie is very low.

Mr and Mrs Geo. Venables, of Napier (erstwhile of Cambridge) are on a visit to this town.

Ilev. and Mrs W. J. Elliott leave Cambridge on Saturday next. Prior to taking up residence at Papakura, they will spend a short holiday at Rotorua. Messrs S. Walton and J. 11. Hutchinson, of Mt. Eden,, are, on a visit to Cambridge,. . and are the . guests of Mr and Mrs 8. Armstrong, of Alpha Street.

Dr Buck, Director of Native Hygiene, has accepted the appointment of anthropologist to the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, and will leave to take up his duties in about three months. The authorities at the Museum are making an exhaustive study of Polynesian questions. Investigations will probably occupy some years..

On Saturday last at, the Cambridge Croquet Club’s greens, Mrs Murray (president of the club) presented Mrs (Rev.) W. J, Elliott with a very nice bedroom clock on the eve of her departure from Cambridge. Mrs Murray said Mrs Elliott had been one of the club 's best players, and would bo greatly missed by all the members, who held her in high esteem. They all wished her every success in her new home at Papakura. Mrs Elliott suitably replied, and said she had spent a very happy time on the local greens and made many close friends,

At the Methodist social last night Rev. Elliott referred with pleasure to the fact that two Cambridge young men had entered the ministry. Rev, Athol Penn had completed his college course with, credit, and was now about to commence his probationary term. Mr Elliott took the opportunity to wish Mr Penn a successful and fruitful ministry, and presented him with two useful books as a token of tho friendship that had existed between them. Mr Athol Penn made an appropriate reply, thankin g-Mr Elliott' for 'many' kindrtesses received at his hands, and saying he would always remember his happy associations with the Cambridge Methodist Church, and the many friends among-the congregation.
