LEAVES TOR LONDON. WELLINGTON, this day. Hon. Sir .Tames Parr yesterday resigned his various portfolios. Sir .Tames and Lady ParrMeO for London, via Panama, by the si earner Rotorua this morning.

EERSOUAE.. Mr and Mrs Viggors, of Roto-o-rangi, have left on a-six weeks’ visit/to Australia. Mr T. A. Cooper lias been elected president of the Waikato Rugby Union. Messrs B. Chapman and C. McDevitt have been appointed delegates to the N.Z. Rugby Council. A vote of sympathy and condolence With the widow, family and relatives of the late Alfred Main, of Tamahere, was carried in silence at the annual meeting of the Hunt on Thursday evening. Miss E. Niclioll, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Nieholl, Fencourt, has joined the Waikato Hospital staff, to train for the nursing profession. Miss Nieholl left on Thursday to take up her duties. ‘ On Tuesday evening a cordial welcome was extended- Revs. P. R. Paris and H. L. Fiebig, Methodist ministers, who have just commenced their ministry in Hamilton, the former at Lundon Street, and the latter at Frankton. A pleasing little function took place at the opening of the hockey season at Leamington on Saturday last, when Mr F. Lye, on behalf of the Leamington Hockey Club, presented one., of their members (Miss Grace Nicklc) with a handsome memento, in view of her approaching marriage. Mr W. H. Paul has been re-elected president of the Hamilton Beautifying Society at the annual meeting of this Society. At the annual meeting of this praise was given to Mr Paul for his good work in this capacity in the past.

At the Fencourt Methodist Sunday school anniversary social last night, Mr W. Harbutt, on behalf of the parents and friends of the school, spoke in warm terms of Mr W. R. Beer’s devotion and faithful service as superintendent of the school, and in token of appreciation presented him with a beautiful gold watch. Mr Beer, who was completely taken by surprise, suitably acknowledged the handsome gift.
