The monthly meeting of the Power Board will be held in. the board’s offices on Friday afternoon.
The rainfall for March in Hamilton totalled 2.58 inches;. Tauranga, 2.90 in, In Cambridge 1.85 in was registered. The usual monthly meeting of the Loamington Town Board is being held this afternoon.
At the loeal Police Court yesterday afternoon, before Messrs A. Alan Bell anil A. J. Arnold, J’s.P., Frederick Samuel Reynolds was convicted oh a charge of drunkenness and was prohibited for twelve months.
The interest displayed* in the final of the Cambridge Bowling- Club’s Easter rinks final may bo judged from the fact that yesterday afternoon when the game was played there were fully 250 onlookers, including a goodly portion of the general public. Mrs Ellis, of Wisconsin, • America, Ashing off Cape Brett, on Monday, put up a record as regards lady anglers, by landing three large swordfish in one day, the fish weighing 3401 b, 3.121 b and 2601 b. These- magnificent specimens made a great, picture when hung up on the Russell wharf crane.

A curious freak of nature, in the form of a black cat, with the stumpy tail, short; forelegs, and long hind legs, of a rabbit j-may be seen at Stevenson’s Hotel, Reef ton. The animal wSs born two and a. half months ago, and is quite healthy. It presents a peculiar sight, as it sits up on its hind legs, like a rabbit. Endeavours to make friends Avith the curiosity have faildd, and it immediately declares Avar on human beings, avlio approach too near. Two other kittens, born at the same time, are perfectly normal,
A Turn.kina Maori, when speaking to a Rangitikei newspaper Reporter of the migration of the tuna lieke, said, that it had already .set in in the Turakina river, and thousands of eels had been captured ’ during the : past ■■. week. These eels were known as the silver belly variety. Once the run commenced they could not be caught on a line, as they apparently consumed no, food until such times as they reached the sea. The Maori added that ten or more distinct 'types of tunas migrated in turn in the local rivers at this season of the year. A Wairpn - orchardist came across a 'wonderful instance of bird instinct, or perhaps it should lie called, reason, states'an exchange.
