REUNION
PRESBYTERIAN GIRLS' BIBLE (CLASS. - : .MAJORITY YEAR. "-■, '.:'*',. The year .1925 marks the 2.lst annl.-,. yersary: of the foundation of the Pres- ; ,« ■ byfce.rian. .Girls' Bible Class Union. In, accordance with the plans for the celebration of this majority year, each class. in the union is, during this month, holding a special reunion. The local Presbyterian girls, representing the seizor, intermediate and junior classes, jglli their gathering during the week-end. Old records had been searched, and as far as possible invitations had been sent to all who had been members during the past 21 years, and a reunion . banquet was held on Saturday evening. The Peace Memorial Sunday School was decorated with holly and coloured' • streamers, the chief feature being the centre table, holding the large birthday cake, with its 21 candles. In spite of the inclemency of the weather seventy sat down to the '*feast." Apologies for absence were received from many past members, and from ex-leaders, including one from Mrs Magill, who was prevented by illness from being present, and to whom it was decided to send / a special greeting from the gathering. K-ev. Jas. Hay acted as chairman and the following toast list was honoured: "The King," proposed by Rev. Jas. Hay; "Our Majority Year Every Girl. Campaign," Miss Hopkirk; "Our Pioneer Leader, Miss Dean," proposed by Miss Perkins, responded to by Miss Dean. (At this stage of the ings a .bouquet was presented to Mipf Dean by Margaret MacKenzie). "Past Leaders" (Miss Dean, Mrs G. Mills, Mrs T. L. Millar, Mrs Magill/ Mrs W. K. Watsbh, Miss Hopkirk, Mrs Thomson), proposed by Miss E. Moore, responded to by Mrs Thomson; "Past °> Ministers" (Revs. W. J. Gow and : T. H. RoseVearb), proposed by Mrs Moors 1 , responded to by Rev. W. J. Gotf; "Past Members and Absent Members)" .proposed by Miss G. Phairn, responded to by Miss I. Gray (Auckland); "Our Sunday School," proposed by Mjsh Simpson, responded 'to by Mr T. P r Richards; "Our Minister," proposed by Mr A. Towsey, responded to by Rev. Jas. Hay.
A solo by Mrs C. Watt was much appreciated. The function was a great success and much pleasure was felt that Miss Dean (first leader of the present senior girls' class, formed in 190 G) and Rev. W. 3. Gow (minister of the church, 21 years ago) were at the reunion, y Sunday-Services. '^ The church -was filled morning and evening services oir j&indayf when special addresses were* by Rev. Jas. Hay and in the-afternoon Rev. W. J. Grow spoke to a large:..gathering of past and present members of the girls' classes. His remiuiscenccs of the work done in the earlier years of the movement here, and his kindly and sympathetic advice to the girls of today, were a great inspiration to those present and specially fitting-to the ote-
