One of the foremost natives of New Zealand, Hurinui Apanui, a leading chief of the Ngatiawa tribe, nearly 70 years of age, died at Whakatahe Pa this morning. It is stated that Hurinui could trace his generology back further than any chief in the Dominion. He was a fine type of natice, over six feet, sturdily built/with a handsome figure and bearing—every inch a chief.
