SUMMER SHOW
HAMILTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. The Hamilton Horticultural Society held its annual summer show on Tuesday, when there was a very beautiful display of flowers at the Town Hall. The roses shown were few in number, and poor in quality, it being too late in the season for good blooms. However, there was a lovely show of sweet peas of fine quality, though most exhibits were rather short in the stems.
Mrs (Dr.) Douglas won the challenge cup for 12 roses (only entry), and also won many prizes in other cut blooms classes. J. Franklyn (Cambridge) won first prize for three and six varieties carnations, with fine exhibits, there being keen competition in both sections. Mr G. B. Simpson (Cambridge) staged a choice lot of Tambler roses for exhibition only . Great interest, was shown in the "Hamutana rr cup, presented by Mr G. Parr, for the best collection of flowers grown on either side of the river. Hamilton .East won with 108 points, as against Hamilton West's 103..
