JUNIORS’ EVENING

LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB. There was again a very large attendance at St. Andrew’s Hall last night, the building being packed to the doors, for the fortnightly meeting of the Literary and Debating Club. The president occupied the chair. The programme for the evening was contributed almost entirely by the junior members, who had been very kindly coached by Messrs Meredith and Heath, of the District High School. The items were all much appreciated, and showed that the juniors possess very considerable talent, and aptitude.- The play submitted was composed and dramatised by the children themselves, with very little help. Altogether it was a very creditable and enjoyable programme. The items were as follows:—
