At the National Dairy Association's Conference, Mr"T. C. Bush, referring to the project to advertise the Dominion's products at the Empire Exhibition, proposed a levy of 2/- a ton on butter, and 1/- a ton on cheese, which would produce £9OOO-or £IO,OOO. After discussion the scheme was recommended to the individual companies, the money to be collected at either end. A motion that the annual meeting should be held alternately at Auckland and Palmerston North' was carried. The . Hon. J. B. Gow (Auckland), Messrs. J. B. Murdoch (Taranaki), and J. D. Brown (Wellington), vvcro elected directors.

The Silieo Calcaire Company has decided, to establish a- factory at Ngaruawahia for making building bricks out of sand and lime by a patent process. The preparation of the factory site. will be complete in a few weeks. Machinery is to be ordered from Belgium and it is expected the industry will b(? in full swing by the beginning of next yea r.
