PLUNKET NURSES
ADDITIONAL STATE GRANTS

The Cabinet has acceded to the application of the Plunkot Society for a further grant of £312") a year to enable 2.1 additional nurses to be stationed in new districts. There are at present (i'2 Plunkot nurses working in New Zealand. The Government subsidises the salary of each nurse in the sum of £125, a little more than half they receive for salary and expenses, for some time past the central council of the society has boon pressed by a number of smaller boroughs and centres For the extension (if the benefits of the movement to those districts. It is impossible for the council to do much without further aid from the Government, and consequent-
