The appointment of Mr P. H. Wylde as clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Te Aroha is gazetted.
Mr J. T. Johnson has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board.
The Rev. Niblock has been appointed curate of St. Augustine Church at Stanley Bay, Auckland, and will take up his duties there early next month.
The death is announced, at Kiokio, hear Otorohanga, of a well-known set tier, in the person of Mr Percy EllisHe leaves a widow and six young children.
Mr Will Lawson, the well known writer, left Wellington by the Marama for Sydney, where he will join the literary staff of the now daily paper, "The Public Guardian."
Mr A. E. Day, headmaster of the Fairfield School, Hamilton, has been appointed organising teacher to the Hawke's Bay Education Board, and will leave Hamilton to take up his residence in Hastings on July 1.
Rev. Mortimer Jones, vicar o? Cambridge, left by last night's Main Trunk express for Christchurch,. in order to attend the big Church Congress there. Mr Jones will be away for about ten days.
His Excellency the Governor-General Lord Jellicoe, intends to leave Auckland on the morning of May 30, and will unveil a war memorial on the afternoon of that day at To Awamutu. Later he will visit the'Waitomo Caves and Te Kuiti.
Messrs W. Goodfellow and F. McCarthy, of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Co., Ltd., are at present in Wellington engaged in conference with the Prime Minister and the Railway management regarding question of importance to the dairy industry generally.
The Mayor of Pukekohe (Mr John Routly) has resigned, together with one of the councillors, the town clerk, and electrical engineer. There has been very strong feeling bet weep the Mayor and councillors for some time. The Mayor will not seek re-election.
Mr F. Lye, M.P. for Waikato, spent several days iu the Kawhia district last week, visiting Oparan, Kawhia, Awaroa, Hauturu and other parts of the electorate, with a view to getting a closer knowledge of the district and its requirements. Mr Lye met leading settlers, and addressed meetings at all the centres named. Ho was heartily thanked for the interest he had displayed in 4he electors' requirements. Mr ' Lye returned home to Cambridge on Saturday.
