CAMBRIDGE UNION ANNUAL MEETING Following is the annual report, road at the annual mooting of the pantbridgc Bugby Union, held on Wedne.-;-day last: — It gives us great pleasure in presenting our report on last season's work. We had four senior and four junior tciun.s in the competitions and also, for fcie first time, three third grade teams, lh.e inaugurating of this competition proving a success and showing promising players for the future. Hautapu •won the senior, championship, with
runners-up; Leamington I .the junior, with City runners-up;' and High School the third grade. A sev'en-..a-side tournament was also held, the winners'being Hautapu in the seniors, •City in the juniors, and High School ( fn the third grade. In representative j games we had two strong teams, which | reflected credit on the Union. The seniors played Morrinsville for the Peace Cup, being beaten by a small margin after a hard game. They also played Waipa for the Finlay Cup, being beaten at the last minute. They also lost to Matamata, but defeated Putaruru. The juniors played Matamata and Morrinsville, being defeated •du both cases, but registered a win .against Hamilton. As Waikato reps., A. Thompson, I. Peake, D. Patterson, and Esplincr did credit to the Union, (fbe finances of the Union are in a good position, considering that at the beginning of last season the liabilities were £SO, and these have now been reduced to £ls. Credit is due to the strict economy of , the management committee and delegates. Praise is due to the president, MrA. E. Cox, for his good work and time given to the game, and to the secretary, Mr C. B. Carpenter. It was with regret that we lost Mr L C. Jcnnins, who acted.as manager and selector with Messrs Marx and Clothier. As delegate to the Waikato Union, Mr Jennins also did good work. The way the referees handled the hard games they had to deal with was a Credit to- them and to the Union. The
Union extends thanks to all who helped during" the past season, and looks forward to 1923 as the most prosperous and successful in the annals of the Union.
