CAMBRIDGE CIRCUIT QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of church officials in connection with the Cambridge Methodist circuit was held at the Bible class rooms last evening, when there were present: Rev. J. D. McArthur (presiding), Mrs Palmer, Miss Hooker, Messrs C. H. Bycroft, Geo. Clark, J. W. Cocks, R. Webber, R. J. Melville, J. J. Bridgman, F. Bycroft, S. Cowling, Frank Penn, and R. Bycroft. Membership returns showed a fairly satisfactory state of affairs. Threo new members were enrolled. Mr Athol Penn, a candidate for local preacher, was submitted to an oral examination, by the chaii'm&ii, Who also reported favourably on the candidate’s trial sermon, given recently. The candidate was unanimously accepted as a fully accredited local preacher. The balance sheet presented showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, there being a balance in hand, after providing for outstanding liabilities.
It was resolved that harvest thanksgiving services be held during the current quarter at St. Paul's, Leamington and Fencourt churches, the proceeds to be devoted to the respective trusts. Permission was granted to the Eev. McArthur to be away for three Sundays on holiday—two Sundays prior to annual Conference, and one after.
The annual election of officers resulted in the two circuit stewards (Messrs C. H. Bycroft and Frank Penn) being reelected. All the other officers, including society stewards, were re-elected, while Mr Arnold Bycroft was added to the society stewards.
The appointment of a representative from the circuit to attend annual conference, to bo held in Dunedin, commencing February 22nd, was • left in tho hands of the chairman, none of those present being able to act in that capacity.
The matter of re-painting the circuit car was left in the hauds of Messrs C. H. Bycroft and E. J. Melville, with power to act.
Miss Penn was deputed to arrange for the regular supply of flowers for St. Paul's for church services, while Mrs Palmer was asked to take in hand the supervision of arrangements for tho annual harvest festival at St. Paul's.
Hearty appreciation was expressed
of the splendid services rendered by the vis.tors from Hamilton and Auck.and who filled the pulpit during, E’ev. McArthur’s absence on prohibition work, and it was- resolved t«r write to the various- local preachers' to that effect.
