OBITUARY
ANOTHER Oil) PIONEER. MR J. ALLWILL. During the past few months, Cambridge, has lost quite a number of the fast-thinning ranks of pioneer settlers, and yet another passed to his rest this morifing in the person of Mr Jared Allwill, of Hautapu, at the ripe age of 81 years. Mr Jared Allvvill, was born in County Moynikan, Ireland, and arrived in Auckland in the year 1862. In 1871 he came to Cambridge, and purchased a holding at Hautapu from a soldier. This property he retained until his death. Mr Allwill married a Miss Seymour, of Bruntwood, who survives him, and he also leaves two sons (Messrs Stephen Allwill, Auckland, and Albert Jared Allwill, Cambridge), and one daughter (Miss Violet Allwill, of Hautapu). One son was killed at the war. In the days of the troubles with the Maori race, Mr Allwill served with the militia. He was one of the best-know'n and most highly esteemed early residents of Cambridge, and his demise will be' regretted by hosts of friends. Mr Ailwill always took a keen interest in sport, and for many years he was the possessor of several noted race-horses. The funeral will take place to-mor-row afternoon.
