SOUTH AUCKLAND RUGBY" LEAGUE REFEREES' ASSN. A meeting of the above was held at Hamilton on Thursday evening last at 7 p.m. There were present: Messrs Harloek and Rodgers (Lower Waiwato), Buttimore and Ivcan (Cambridge), and Herrick (Hamilton); also the hon. secretary, Mr S. Saunders. Mr Herlock occupied the chair, in the absence of the president. Matters relative to the interpretation of certain rules were discussed at length, it being ultimately decided to Avrite the Auckland R.L. Referees* Association and ask for their ruling. The question of representation on the N.Z.R.L. Referees' Association, which is to meet shortly in conference in Auckland, was considered, and it was resolved to suggest, to the Association that one delegate be appointed from each sub-league, South Auckland's quota being three. The question of a referee for the Cambridgc-Hawkc 's Bay match was left in the hands of the Cambridge Association..
S.A. RUGBY LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the South Auckland Rugby League was held at 8 p.m. the same evening.. There were present: Mr W. Stevens (president) in the chair, Messrs Harlock, Rodgers, Sbceran (Lower Waikato), Buttimore, Hart, Kean (Cambridge), McDonald, McDermott) Herrick (Hamilton), .Saunders (Referees' Association), and F. W. Wilson (hon. secretary). It was decided to try and play the knock-out round off as soon as possible, and Cambridge and Hamilton delegates were asked to arrange the MatangiHamilton United match in Cambridge, as early as possible, so as to allow the winning team to play the champion club in Lower Waikato, the winners of that match in turn to play Auckland club holding the championship shield. Hawke's Bay will play Cambridge at Cambridge on Wednesday, 23rd August, and South Auckland at Hamilton, on Saturday 2o'tk August.
The South Auckland team will tour South as soon as can be arranged after the Auckland match, and will play Hawke's Bay at Napier, Wellington at Palmcrston North, and Wellington again at Wellington. The question of going as far South as Christchureh was
allowed to stand over until a special meeting to be held in Hamilton, on Thursday night next, when full particulars of all rep. matches will be available for discussion.
Tho South Auckland team promises to be a very strong combination this year, and should uphold the red, white and blue in a creditable manner, both at home and on tour.
An application was made to 'the N.Z. League Council for a match with the Australians against Lower Waikato, at Ngaruawahia, and South Auckland, at Hamilton.
