The strike was nowhere general, except in Ancona. All the other important centres, including Florence, Milan and Turin, are working as usual.’ In isolated cases where railwavnien" responded to the strike call, Fascists replaced them, and it is expected the Facists will keep the.jobs. The leaders of Communist Socialist parties are contemplating resignation, in view of disagreement regarding their orders. The success of Fascists created a great impression.
BOTTOMLEY EXPELLED HE EXPRESSES REGRET LONDON, August 1. Horatio Bottomley was expelled from the House of Commons to-day. He did not appear at the Bar of the House to address members as was anticipated, but the Speaker read a long letter in which Bottomley expressed regret at having brought a slur on the House of Commons. > Mr Austen Chamberlain’s motion for his expulsion was unanimously adopted. THE AMERICA CUP NO CHALLENGE THIS YEAR LONDON, August 1. The Daily Express states that Sir Thomas Liptpn does not intend to issue a challenge for the America Cup this year.
