MANAWATU ELECTORATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association) FOXTON, Tuesday. At a. largely attended and representative meeting of Government supporters in the Manawatu electorate the candidature of Mr Joseph Linklatcr was eonfirmed. It was decided to tender Mr Edward Newman a farewell banquet, to which the Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet will be invited. THE WAKATIPU CONTEST. (By Telegraph—Press Association) TAURANGA, Tuesday. Mr F. YV. Shortland, solicitor, of Tuuranga, has announced that lie will contest. the Wakatipu seat at the general election as an Independent candidate. INVERCARGILL SEAT. Mr 11. J. Farrant has been selected as the Labour candidate for Invercargill, and has consented to stand.
