THE CAMBRIDGE CO-OPERATIVE DAIRY CO., LTD.
To 1 lie Shareholders: You have received from Mr Wells a circular letter which speaks for itself. One item contained therein will be put right in to-day's issue, by the gentleman who quoted wrong figures to Mr Wells. The balance of the circular I treat as “Parliamentary Powder" or camouflage. I think you will do the same. I am not out to belittle any person, but I am advocating a matter of policy. My contention is that the Company should be able to do for its suppliers as well as any other Company, either co-operative or private, and if it cannot do so all the supply agreements in the world will not keep them together. I have always been loyal to the Company, and have .used my best efforts on every occasion to induce others to be loyal also. My nomination was not of my own seeking, but at the request of a large number of Shareholders. If you return me I shall endeavour to bring the Company back to its lost estate, viz., one of the best in the province. To-night (Saturday), I shall speak to the suppliers in the Goodwood School, where I shall deal with the circular. Yours faithfully, MAKTIN BUTLEJI.
