CONTROL OF CONSUMPTION

(To tiie Editor). Sir,—The letter of "Cosmos" on the above subject is decidedly interesting, but when he states that "In the past fifty years the death-rate from tuberculosis in England has dropped fifty per cent., and the introduction of sanatorium treatment has in no way con--tributed to this satisfactory state," sua?flly he is overstating the case.' Our tulerculosis specialists would not be so insistent on the need for more sanatoriums if that were not so. Their state-; meht of the case is that as the disease is an infectious one, the more consumptives that are segregated the less the area of infection, and consequently the less disease. As the subject is likely -to some up for discussion this session, the more light that can be thrown on -the subject the better, and consequently I hope "Cosmos" will reply to this letter of ENQUIRER. i Cambridge, July 24, 1D22.
