DRIED MILK POWDER
IMPROVED PROSPECTS OF TRADE
ME GOODFELLOW'S ADVICE
TE AWAMUTU FACTORY TO OPEN
It is now definitely announced (says the Waipa Post) that the dried milk factory in Te Awamutu will open for work next month.
Discussing the question with Mr J. T. Young (a director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd.), a Post reporter was informed that advices from Mr W. Goodfellow all went to show that there was a verv favour-
able prospect ahead of this branch of the dairying industry. On his journey to. England, when travelling across the United Sta'tes, Mr Goodfellow had made special investigations regarding dried milk, and his inquiries pointed to the fact, that the outlook for this produet was better even than that for butter or cheese. had therefore cabled instructions for the T'C Awamutu factory to open with the least possible delay. The directors, Mr Young explained, were accordingly hastening the factory installation as much as possible, but some equipment had yet to arrive. However, present indications pointed
to Jbo fact that the factory would open toward tho end of October at. the latest. For a start only one unit would '--> worked, but tho other units would be brought into commission as quickly a:r stuff and other conditions would permit, until' the factory was working to its full capacity. As had been announced, the ultimate intention is to establish and equip a butter factory on the same site, the two factories to be worked in conjunction with each other.
