ENTERTAINMENTS
"TORN SAILS" tl A further instalment of screen versions of famous and popular novels is announced to be screened at the Town Hall to-morrow evening. In this instance it is Allen Raine's well-known story "Torn .Sails," a novel which has enjoyed as large a circulation as "A Welsh Singer" and "By Borwon Banks," both by the same author. It is a grand love story set in the Welsh hills and on the wild Welsh coast, with all the realisation of that country's reputation for romance and drama. Apart from the fact that "Torn Sails" is one of the best known of Allen Raine's works, Welsh stories, in comparison, are somewhat rare and in this instance there is the added value of the rarefy or almost unique state which this story occupies. With its terrible fire and narrowly averted sea disaster *—it is thrilling. Its romance is provided by excellent love story that af-fects-the two principal players, Gladys Prico and Ivor Parry. In these two. roles, beautiful Mary Odette enacts the former while Geoffrey Ferr fills the latter. Milton Eosmer enacts the part of Hugh Morgan, the owner of the sail shed. The box plan is at Congalton's. THE ENGLISH PIERROTS A return season of.one night only will be given by the English Pierrots at the Town Hall, on Saturday of next week.
